Phineas Lounsbury’s 179th Birthday!

Born in Ridgefield on January 10, 1841, Connecticut’s 53rd Governor grew up on a local farm still operating today as ‘The Hickories.’ Phineas was a successful banker and lifelong opponent of ‘strong drink,’ so it’s likely that his birthday celebrations were centered on family, cake and ‘two-step dancing,’ of which he was said to be a fan!
